The High Reynolds number Facility (called “TSF”, for “Turbulence SuperFluide”) derives substantial benefit from the large cryogenic refrigerator at CEA Grenoble, called “400 W”, which has a refrigeration capability of 400 W at 1.8 K, making accessible also the domain of superfluid helium. A large helium flow can be circulated in a closed loop by means of a high flow cold circulator (700 g/s), reaching very high Reynolds numbers (up to 2 x 107 | |
